Teamsters Local 396

 It was an honor to have IBT Western Region Vice President Randy Cammack visit the Teamsters Local 396 January General Membership Meeting. Brother Cammack gave an inspirational speech to the membership and congratulated the Local Union on its many accomplishments. Randy explained to the audience how he started his Teamster career as a Local 396 Package Driver at the downtown Los Angeles UPS Olympic facility.

On October 12, 2011, in Lamont, California, Armando and Eladio Ramirez went into a composting drainage pipe, wearing only painters’ masks for protection – and breathed in fatal amounts of hydrogen sulfide.  Armando, 16 years old, went in first to clean out the pipe, and died almost immediately; Eladio, 22, went in after his brother to help him, and was rendered brain dead, dying the next day.
